Just an old-fashioned (& Old) writer of poems and stories, who blogs sporadically about: funny stuff (& not-funny stuff), music, food and Christian faith...which might be amusing or seriously amazing.
I'm blessed to be a blessing, so may they fall like dew upon those who pass through.😊✝😊
I can make all kinds of grand plans…but if the Lord hasn’t green-lighted them, they’re likely to tank…so it saves time and has a chance of success when I consult Him first.😊

Proverbs 16:9 A man’s heart plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.
John 15:5 I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.
Proverbs 19:21 Many plans are in a man’s heart, but the purpose of the LORD will prevail.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.
“I’ve wrestled with reality for 35 years, and I’m happy to say I finally won out over it.”
~ the character Elwood P. Dowd, “Harvey” ~
The play Harvey was written by American playwrightMary Chasein 1944. The comedy, famous for its main character’s friendship with a six-foot invisible rabbit, won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1945 and was later adapted into a 1950 film starring James Stewart.
Personal Note: I don’t believe or agree with everything Paul Tillich believed, but this quote resonates in me. Maybe because this is the season of Lent–and I’m rereading several of Max Lucado’s books about Christ’s walk to the Cross–Tillich’s words got me thinking in the midnight hour…
Sometimes people just need to talk (whether they are strangers or folks we know)–and when we listen to someone, really listen, it expresses love which respects and values the person we’vechosen to give our attention to…even if only for 5 or 10 minutes. It’s one of those “little” things that could hold far greater importance than we imagine to a person we–perhapsunexpectedly–feel urged to stop for…rather than pass by.
I confess I’m not always a good listener (I’ll further admit I’m not much of a ‘people-person’)…I get busy being self-consumed, and avoid or brush-off folks. If I paused and looked into their eyes, I might see their longing to simply be heard.
During His brief years on Earth, Jesus did a lot of stopping for people–He was very intentional in His contacts, connections. Busy as He was, He always had more than enough time to see them and listen–because He had a heart for people.
My life isn’t as imperatively scheduled as His was. I need to slow down, make a change…if I’m serious about following Christ, loving as He did, reflecting God’s love.
Happy Sunday, everyone is welcome! This first music vid is my new favorite worship song–oooh, I just feel it all the way to my toes!! Can’t keep my arms from raising, feet from dancing as I praise the Lord!
The “gigantor totes project” is nearly finished, and still thrilling me. Thankful they are good quality plastic and quite reasonably priced…I probably only need 2 more, yippee!
Very thankful for my “Russian doll”, caregiver extraordinaire. Even after falling and wounding both wrists she was still eager to help me–I felt a bit guilty, needing her to use the difficult can opener on 6 small cans of tuna last Monday, but she insisted so I sent her home with another home-baked cake. Her big smile makes my heart happy!
And yesterday I learned she’s just as good with communication skills, as with shopping and household stuff. That was a huge relief…I can tell her things, not keep them bottled up for fear she’ll quit.
Very grateful to have a good speaker at church today–the message was “What Do You See?”, and Pastor talked about how we view folks, impacts how we’ll treat them. Do we see them through the lens of bias or bitterness? We’re all made in God’s image, and we need to see everyone as HE sees them, with LOVE.
I ordered some yummy mini dumplings from Amazon–oh my, they’re like small potstickers filled with seasoned chicken and cabbage…delightful!
The temps were cold…then last night warmed up and we have serious rain–all of which I’m thankful for indeed (no snow).
I managed to finish the 1000-piece puzzle (with much frustration–but hey, squinting through cataracts, that’s a grateful victory)!
Both of my neighbor’s cats are in heat…after a 2-day absence, they were quite happy to see me (not sure what that means, but I’ll take it as a positive–they weren’t snarling at me).
Thankful for blogging: the socializing (within my comfort limits), and knowing I can still “write something”.
Always and ever grateful that I’m a beloved child of God, and He is for me!
Amplified Bible Therefore become imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father] Ephesians 5:1
King James Bible When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me. Psalm 56:9
Life is precious because there are no limits to the fineness of human sensitivities. We are capable of responding to the good, the true, the beautiful. We have the capacity to love and to respond to love.” ~ Norman Cousins
