10 Things of Thankful

My gratitudes are a little blurry (but not lacking significance)…life has been rather busy in the Upper Room–nonetheless, I have a list!

#1, Holy Week was very emotional, culminating in the joyous day of Christ’s Resurrection–I’m nearly speechless, still weepy with gratitude for ALL HE MEANS TO ME.

#2, Both my churches/pastors did a marvelous job with their messages; at Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC, the party atmosphere was perfect!

#3, Easter dinner was very nice–my neighbor cooked a banquet table full of traditional dishes, and I contributed my special brownies and ho-hum coconut bars.

#4, Many thanks to host Denise, and all the others who make 6SS a wonderful part of the week.

#5, And much gratitude to Hagar for graciously filling in for me.

#6, The tulips I received from my caregiver lasted ALL week long, amazing!

#7, I managed to take 2 Huge items off my to-do list, with the Lord’s help: moved furniture, a better arrangement; and scrubbed the kitchen floor on hands and knees.  This was not fun, but served an important purpose beyond cleanliness: my caregiver will now be taking over this task–I bought her a Swiffer today😊

#8, The 2 newest residents are settling in nicely–friendly, quiet and respectful…Mr Rogers would be proud!

#9, The A-Z Challenge is going pretty well so far–I’m enjoying it, and so thankful another blogger reminded me about it, lest I miss out.

#10, My feline nieces downstairs are “feeling the heat”, so there’s been a whole lotta yowling goin’ on–it’s not a bother for me, but my nabe isn’t getting much sleep…I’m glad and grateful I didn’t give in to temptation and adopt one of my own.😺

And a special thank you to all my readers–your comments bless me!😊

10 Things of Thankful

Hello again, Hagar here.

On the to-do list Cale left for me I see there’s a prompt, “Ten Things of Thankful”–so I’ll get on that right away.  However, I’ll only be linking to Misky’s post (not up for doing Mr Linky).  https://misky.uk/2026/03/28/ten-things-of-thankful/

I’m grateful for Spring, even if it’s a tad chilly–it arrived speedily here, and some things are better when hurried along.

Also grateful for Public Domain images on wikipedia such as, Vincent van Gogh’s “Almond Blossoms”–used for current header image on this site.

It’s nice to be here as Cale’s substitute, not too scary yet, so I’m thankful to be offered a turn at the wheel.

Very grateful for Holy Week, an emotional time on the Church calendar.

On topic, I’m most grateful for JESUS, that He chose me out of a crowd of better candidates.  To be saved, and deeply loved as a “daughter”–it’s nothing short of miraculous that He’s my Lord.

Friendship is a gift I’m thankful for each day–to have a few people to share the dailyness of life with, in deserts and on mountaintops, is no small thing.  We are blessed to bear each other’s burdens with patient non-judgmental compassion–not everyone’s fit for the calling.

I’m grateful for “little things”…we never know how God may use them for His big plans.

I’m thankful for free movie streaming.

And microwave popcorn, even if it does turn me into a stick of butter with popcorn hair…I’ll look like my grandma!

I’m grateful I know WHOSE I am, and that my future is well secured–it irons out a lot of stress, I don’t have to be super-smart about everything.

Thanks to all who visited today, may God bless you bountifully✝

Hagar🕯

Ten Things of Thankful

Happy and thankful to be here once again!  I love weekends…there are no business calls to take, so I do regular stuff I enjoy: church, cooking/baking, emailing with my Bestie, movies, and visting my 2 cat nieces downstairs.  (We’ve concluded that slow and rhythmic waving of tail by Sammie as she stares at me, is feline version of human eye-rolling🙄.  I get it…I’m jibber-jabbering away, and she can only feign interest for so long.)

I’m beyond blessed and grateful to be using my cell phone exclusively.  The landline service became ridiculously/outrageously expensive–so I took a deep breath and downgraded to Internet only!  The first day was both scary and funny: I had to call a list of folks to update my records with new phone number…and more than several times I accidentally disconnected before people could answer the rings.  But I’ll get the hang of it before too awfully long–I have faith!

I’m thankful that although my corned beef was not especially successful this St Pat’s Day (I tweak recipes unwisely sometimes)–my caregiver was glad to take home all that I would have tossed!

It was a delight to celebrate her birthday this past week:  I baked a cake of course, and found 3 Russian versions of the traditional “Happy Birthday” song on YouTube.  She was so surprised.  The cake was absolute perfection (whew!):  Black Magic Chocolate Cake is very delish, and has a secret ingredient! (if you ask, I’ll tell you)

As always, I’m glad and grateful for blogging–so many wonderful people, and every day is different.

6-Sentence Story is dear to my heart–I’m thankful for new prompts each Sunday (and grateful the Lord drops an idea in my head)!

I’m beyond grateful the snow was fleeting…enough to satisfy folks who didn’t get a white Christmas, and not sufficient to freeze the parking lot into an ice rink.

I’m thankful for very old needle-nose pliers.  I’m no “Tina-the-Tool-Gal”, and the knob broke off the thermostat in the Upper Room…who knows when Maintenance will respond…so the pliers are ugly but handy.

Alright-y…I don’t know how many thankfuls that is, but you’ve probably heard enough of Cale’s world–so I’ll just tell the Lord I’m grateful He stuck with me another day, and sign off.  See y’all next week, if He doesn’t call me Home!

Ten Things of Thankful ~

(my back yard cherry blossoms)

https://tenthingsofthankful.blogspot.com/

Hello!😊

I’m thankful that we still don’t have snow or ice in the courtyard of the little community where I live–just blessed rain–even though the forecasts keep “threatening/warning/teasing”, scaring everyone one I know.  (“Those people” who think I’m bonkers–still wearing shorts & t-shirts and going barefoot.)

The cherry blossoms are hardy and certainly crazy, or merely nonchalant–blooming without a care in the world, despite nights of still-cold-winter…they’re beautiful, with pink that lights the gray.

I’m ever and always grateful for the Lord’s most bountiful provisions–I seem to live the the life of the Bible widow whose oil and flour never ran out: which allows me to cook and bake for friends who still have to work for a living…it makes me so happy.

I’m thankful for the palpable Presence of the Lord–what joy it is to have His companionship, along with His promises and reassurances throughout His Word.

I’m blessed and grateful to also have God’s gift of sisters (though not related).  They’re all doing pretty well this week–other than a virus here and there; one cheerfully half-way through chemo; the others working around our common aches and pains, and annoying stutters of memory.

I’m mostly blown away by how good my life is at this stage–I never believed it would be worth living this long–but my life is full.  The days are no longer so burdened, blackened by depression and anxiety the way they used to be.  Some days are tricky, sure–but most are rich with interests that pass the hours.

It’s been wonderful to let go of the self-imposed obligations of blogging for a bit–I’m thankful for a rest, and the treasure box of quotations I can post while not writing everyday.

I’m very grateful to the blogging world–so many wonderful people mingling for a moment or two.  We can share a laugh, or a prayer need–as though we were simply talking over the fence.

And I mustn’t leave out my caregiver–she continues to be a 5-star shopper, and amazingly fast!  (Her b’day is next week and I’ve planned a little party–with a gift and my delish “Black Magic Chocolate Cake”.  I even found a YouTube of “Happy Birthday” sung in Russian–she’ll be so surprised!)

One last thing: my “furry nieces” downstairs still welcome my daily visits.  They apparently think they’re “guard cats” (or maybe they’re just nosey); perched in the windowsill, they’ve got invisible SWAT gear, lazer glare eyes trained for anyone suspicious.  I didn’t believe it till I heard it myself–Gracie actually growls at potential ne’er-do-well humans–yes, GROWLS, like a dog!

Oh, lest I forget something truly important, their “mom”–my nabe–has just introduced me to microwave popcorn…that’s worth a Gratitude–can I get a Hallelujah? Amen!

See you again soon,

~ Cale💖

10 Things of Thankful

💖💖💖

I’m happy and grateful just to be able to share thankfuls!!  I’ve not always been in this place/space…so it merits a LOUD HALLELUJAH just to “selah” (pause/consider/reflect/marvel) that!

Here’s more:  I’m very thankful I didn’t have a nervous breakdown this week due to magnifying a mere misunderstanding (as my cousin would say if she were still in Texas, rather than Heaven:  “you are SO Dramatic!!”).  Yeah well, when God created me I guess he left out the Divine equivalent to Valium.

Seriously, though–in a conflict of whatever size, my best defense is JESUS and the Holy Spirit’s gang unit.  A win-win, and no blood spilled!

I’m once again, and always grateful for the few excellent friends I have…as Kermit the frog sang, “it’s not easy being green”–and it’s not easy for reasonably normal folks to inhabit the world of a green person (cousin of Kermit).

I’m thankful we still have NO snow–some days rain, but mostly gorgeous sunshine with the promise of more, since Daylight Savings Time is just around the corner.

Glad and grateful to have a truly caring caregiver–it’s still a miracle to me that she comes back each week…and girl, she folds all my clothes up in neat little squares after doing laundry!  The first time, I laughed–but she insisted they’d fit in the bureau drawers better.  I feel like a queen–because I was used to quite happily just balling up and smooshing everything into drawers.

I’m thankful for all the Customer Service folks I speak with on the phone when I have a question, or want to make payments…they’re so friendly, ‘specially the guys (who’ve evidently been brought up to be kind to old women), very nice and helpful.  I guess that counts for “socializing”, right?

I’m thankful the Scallops Alfredo turned out well last night–it’s even better tonight!

And my nabe and I exchanged dinners again, mid-week:  I made turkey vegetable soup, she cooked Mexican.  But it’s about to get rough–she has to stop pretending she needn’t follow Dr’s orders to absolutely QUIT sugar…so there go all the yummy desserts…

I’m grateful for a change in perspective about blogging this year–I’m no longer a prisoner on the chain gang of Stats…sweet Freedom indeed!!

And I’m thankful to be fully immersed in this rich Lenten season…so good to feel the depth of the Lord’s love, that He would submit to the agony of His last days on Earth so that I could be with Him forever–washed clean, made new, a Somebody beloved of God.  Jesus be the Name I praise!

PS:  I think I went over 10–is there a fine for that?😉

10 Things of Thankful

Ah yes, I’m a grateful gal!!

The “gigantor totes project” is nearly finished, and still thrilling me.  Thankful they are good quality plastic and quite reasonably priced…I probably only need 2 more, yippee!

Very thankful for my “Russian doll”, caregiver extraordinaire.  Even after falling and wounding both wrists she was still eager to help me–I felt a bit guilty, needing her to use the difficult can opener on 6 small cans of tuna last Monday, but she insisted so I sent her home with another home-baked cake.  Her big smile makes my heart happy!

And yesterday I learned she’s just as good with communication skills, as with shopping and household stuff.  That was a huge relief…I can tell her things, not keep them bottled up for fear she’ll quit.

Very grateful to have a good speaker at church today–the message was “What Do You See?”, and Pastor talked about how we view folks, impacts how we’ll treat them.  Do we see them through the lens of bias or bitterness?  We’re all made in God’s image, and we need to see everyone as HE sees them, with LOVE.

I ordered some yummy mini dumplings from Amazon–oh my, they’re like small potstickers filled with seasoned chicken and cabbage…delightful!

The temps were cold…then last night warmed up and we have serious rain–all of which I’m thankful for indeed (no snow).

I managed to finish the 1000-piece puzzle (with much frustration–but hey, squinting through cataracts, that’s a grateful victory)!

Both of my neighbor’s cats are in heat…after a 2-day absence, they were quite happy to see me (not sure what that means, but I’ll take it as a positive–they weren’t snarling at me).

Thankful for blogging:  the socializing (within my comfort limits), and knowing I can still “write something”.

Always and ever grateful that I’m a beloved child of God, and He is for me!

Amplified Bible
Therefore become imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father] Ephesians 5:1

King James Bible
When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.  Psalm 56:9

10 Things of Thankful

It’s been another blessed and thankful week, the Lord kept me well.💖

I made progress on the “bedroom mess project” (a.k.a. “storage room with a bed”): filled 3 18-gallon plastic totes with what was in 8 ugly boxes taking up space…a few more to go!

Enjoyed fun phone visits with 2 friends.

My caregiver–so kind and willing to help with anything I need; she does the shopping for me, and if my list includes a fresh pineapple she cuts it up, such a treat!🍍  And, although she doesn’t like to cook, she brought me a yummy Russian pasta dish–comfort food!

She also gave me flowers for Valentines Day (I made her homemade fudge)💐

Thankful for good movies to watch–most of them free.

Grateful that Valentine’s Day has a deeper meaning than it did when I was younger.

Thankful for my neighbor who makes the BEST gravy (& mashed potatoes and chicken)!!

And equally grateful her 2 cats still adore me…or at least make a polite pretense😺😻

Very thankful it’s only raining, no snow (though, silly cherry blossoms are budding early as usual, despite my annual warning about a cold snap🙄).

Brimming Over ~ 10 Things of Thankful

I’m starting this New Year with some new things, one being the “10 Things of Thankful” list which many here in the blogs faithfully post and share.  Since I’m new, I’m still finding my feet.  But the main thing is the list, so here goes:

  1. thankful I know where I’m spending Eternity, courtesty of Jesus
  2. thankful to live in the Pacific NW, in an area where we are currently NOT having snow and ice (I’m still wearing shorts & t-shirts, going barefoot…in the house!)
  3. thankful I’m “Cajun-tough”, sufficient DNA inherited from Louisiana-Texas relatives
  4. thankful 2026 is already better-blessed with new attitude regarding the ageing gig: “just live around it!”
  5. thankful I can still cook & bake, it’s my love-language💖
  6. thankful I can still see well enough to do jigsaw puzzles!
  7. very thankful for Six-Sentence-Story “membership”, and that I can still put sentences together
  8. also thankful I can arrange words for poetry
  9. way thankful for my caregiver, a kind Russian woman
  10. thankful for my best friend who lives too far away…but we have email!

#11: Very thankful for WordPress blogging community, my life is enriched.
